Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) is seen firing a Winchester Model 70 bolt-action rifle on top of a department store building at walkers in Season 1 Episode 2, Guts. He also uses the rifle to rifle-butt T-Dog (IronE Singleton) in a disagreement before Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) intervenes handcuffing Merle to the roof, forcing Merle to cut off his hand to escape.
